The video on recycling was created by The Academically Talented Students of Vermilion Parish. It was presented to all of the principals of Vermilion Parish to pormote recycling in all parish schools. As a result of this video recycling is now in all twenty schools in the parish, the school board office, in all governmental agencies, seventy-two recycling bins are distributed at dropoff locations throughout the parish and as of August 2011, one million pounds of recycling has been picked up. Educational efforts continue through displays at the public library and at civic functions. Not only has this made citizens more aware of the importance of recycling, but it has made a major impact on the longivity of our landfill.
